Local issues in Brighton, Pavilion
We're collecting local issues in Brighton, Pavilion. Some of these have been turned into questions to put to the candidates standing at the 2010 general election in the form of a questionnaire.
Issues are no longer being turned into questions, but we still want them! A good local issue will be about a problem of local relevance, possibly suggesting how something should have been/be done.
- proposed developments on the edge of the city centre will destroy the character of areas and threaten small business, particularly proposals for London Road, which would see Ransoms demolished (source)
- Over pricing of London-Brighton trains is stifling business development.
- The building of a new secondary school
- the residential parking scheme in the Preston Park Area is simply a money making scheme for the Council and has not taken into account the wishes of local residents (source)
- brighton council isn't making the most of the strong digital community in Brighton.
- more should be done to provide the homeless and substance dependant with support
- Provide more information to residents when "events" occur, i.e. marathon, rallies so we know not to go into town
- Residents parking zones are expanding outwards. Visitors to the city don't have the option of a proper park and ride, yet when they arrive find there is nowhere to park.
- The firestation at Preston Park shouldn't be relocated (source)
Local questions for candidate questionnaire
These are the questions that have been made out of the local issues Demoracy Club volunteers have posted. They'll make up the 'local' section of a questionnaire that TheyWorkForYou is developing in conjunction with Demoracy Club. Below the question is the local issue it's derived from.
Do you agree that ... ?
