Local issues in Huntingdon
We're collecting local issues in Huntingdon. Some of these have been turned into questions to put to the candidates standing at the 2010 general election in the form of a questionnaire.
Issues are no longer being turned into questions, but we still want them! A good local issue will be about a problem of local relevance, possibly suggesting how something should have been/be done.
- I live in St Neots, I only work in Huntingdon...My main gripe is the lack of policing of young hoodlums, thugs, truants & inconsiderate parking on our street, beacuse the drivers are too tight to pay
- Many new housing estates being built on green belt land, when there are other places (grey belt) that could be used, more sensitive to the environment
- What's happening to our schools? We are producing a lost generation of illiterate children, who have a flimsy grasp of the Mother Tongue.
- Our current MP Jonathan Djanogly has expenses' issues to answer but isn't. (source)
- Martin Land, Liberal Democrat candidate, should inform us why he referred to Tories as "closet racists and homophobes". (source)
- This shows why our schools are such a mess. This underfunding goes back over 30 years, and none of our MPs have done anything about it. They all belong to the par.ty that brought in this unfair deal (source)
- There is a lack of policing of young hoodlums that should be made a police priority.
- it is impossible to find out where the mythical green belt is around huntingdon
Local questions for candidate questionnaire
These are the questions that have been made out of the local issues Demoracy Club volunteers have posted. They'll make up the 'local' section of a questionnaire that TheyWorkForYou is developing in conjunction with Demoracy Club. Below the question is the local issue it's derived from.
Do you agree that ... ?
- Housing estates never not be built on green belt land, as long as there are grey belt areas that could be used.
Based on issue: Many new housing estates being built on green belt land, when there are other places (grey belt) that could be used, more sensitive to the environment
- There is a lack of policing of anti social behaviour that should be made a police priority.
Based on issue: There is a lack of policing of young hoodlums that should be made a police priority.
- More affordable car parks should be build to counter inconsiderate parking on our streets.
